Ramadan begins, On Monday
The religious edict-making body Dar Al-Ifta said on Sunday that the Islamic holy month of Ramadan for the Hijri year 1445 will begin on Monday, March 11.
Importantly, Ramadan starts on Monday.
Dar Al-Ifta said just after dusk tonight that Sunday would mark the end of the month of Sha’ban due to the crescent being sighted after Maghreb prayers.
Ramadan will start on Monday, according to an announcement made on Sunday by Saudi Arabia, the country that is home to the Islamic holy sites of Mecca and Medina.
In the Hijri (Islamic) Calendar, which is a lunar calendar where the beginning and end of each month are determined by the moon’s movements, Ramadan is the ninth month. The new moon is observed for the first day of each month.
The National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) said last week that the Islamic holy month would start on March 11 and extend for 30 days based on astronomical calculations.
Ramadan is revered by Muslims all over the world as the month when the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) received the revelation of the Holy Quran.
They focus more on performing their religious obligations, such as praying, reciting the Quran, and giving charity, and they fast from sunrise until sunset.
