Getting Started with Arabic Learning

10 questions
Why should I learn Arabic?+

Arabic is one of the six official UN languages spoken by over 420 million people. Learning it opens doors to:

  • Religious understanding: Read the Quran in its original language and deepen your Islamic knowledge
  • Career opportunities: High demand in diplomacy, business, journalism, and international relations
  • Cultural enrichment: Access rich literature, poetry, and media from 22 Arab countries
  • Travel: Communicate confidently across the Middle East and North Africa
  • Academic excellence: Study Middle Eastern history, Islamic studies, or Arabic literature
Is Arabic hard to learn?+

Arabic has a reputation for being challenging, but it is very manageable with the right approach. The script (28 letters, right-to-left) takes a few weeks to master — however, Arabic is fully phonetic, meaning words are pronounced exactly as written, with no silent letters.

With our structured one-on-one lessons, most adult beginners start reading and forming basic sentences within the first month.

How long does it take to learn Arabic?+
  • Basic conversation: 3–6 months (2–3 lessons/week)
  • Intermediate fluency: 12–18 months of consistent study
  • Quranic reading with Tajweed: 6–12 months
  • Advanced / professional level: 2–3 years

These timelines assume regular practice. Our plans range from 4 to 20 lessons per month, so you choose the pace that fits your life.

Do I need prior knowledge to join?+

No prior knowledge required. We welcome complete beginners who have never seen the Arabic alphabet. Our curriculum starts from absolute zero and progresses systematically. We also serve intermediate and advanced learners. During your free trial lesson our teacher will assess your level and build a personalised plan.

What age groups do you teach?+
  • Children (5–12): Fun, game-based sessions via our Arabic for Kids program
  • Teens (13–17): Age-appropriate content balancing academic rigour with engaging materials
  • Adults (18+): Professional, conversational, or Quranic Arabic
  • Seniors (60+): Patient, comfortable-paced instruction
Can women and girls learn with female teachers?+

Yes, absolutely. We have qualified female instructors for female students of all ages. Simply indicate your preference when registering and we will match you accordingly. All our teachers are certified and respectful of cultural and religious requirements.

Modern Standard Arabic vs Egyptian dialect — which should I choose?+

Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) is used in media, formal writing, and the Quran. Understood across all 22 Arab countries. Best for reading, academic study, and religious texts.

Egyptian Colloquial Arabic is the spoken dialect of everyday life in Egypt — and the most widely understood Arabic dialect worldwide. Best for travel, living in Egypt, and casual conversation.

Many students combine both. We offer either or both, and can help you decide during your trial lesson.

I want to learn for religious purposes. Which course suits me?+

We recommend combining: Quran Online Classes for proper recitation (Tajweed), memorisation (Hifz), and Quranic vocabulary — plus Islamic Studies covering Hadith, Fiqh, and Seerah. For reading classical Islamic texts, our MSA course provides the necessary Arabic foundation.

Can I switch between courses or combine multiple programs?+

Yes, complete flexibility. Common combinations: MSA + Quran, Egyptian Arabic + Islamic Studies, Professional Arabic + Conversation practice. Switch anytime — no fees, no penalties.

How do I know if online learning is right for me?+

Online learning offers: convenience (learn from anywhere), flexibility (schedule around your life), full one-on-one attention, direct access to native Egyptian teachers, and the comfort of your own space.

The best way to find out is to try our free trial lesson — no payment, no commitment required.
