🚀

Getting Started with Arabic Learning

Why should I learn Arabic?

+

Arabic is one of the six official UN languages and is spoken by over 420 million people worldwide. Learning Arabic opens doors to:

  • Religious understanding: Read the Quran in its original language and deepen your Islamic knowledge
  • Career opportunities: High demand for Arabic speakers in diplomacy, business, journalism, and international relations
  • Cultural enrichment: Access rich Arabic literature, poetry, history, and media from 22 Arab countries
  • Travel experiences: Communicate confidently across the Middle East and North Africa
  • Academic excellence: Pursue studies in Middle Eastern history, Islamic studies, or Arabic literature

At Alphabet Arabic Academy, we help you achieve any or all of these goals through personalized instruction.

Is Arabic hard to learn?

+

Arabic has a reputation for being challenging, but this depends on several factors. What makes it challenging: A new alphabet system (28 letters), right-to-left writing, and different grammar structure from European languages.

What makes it manageable: Logical grammar rules, phonetic spelling (words are pronounced as written), and no silent letters. With the right teaching method and consistent practice, most students achieve basic conversational skills within 3-6 months.

Our experienced teachers at Alphabet Arabic Academy break down complex concepts into simple, digestible lessons using proven methods that have helped thousands of students successfully learn Arabic.

How long does it take to learn Arabic?

+

The timeline varies based on your goals, learning intensity, and starting point. Basic conversation: 3-6 months with 2-3 lessons per week. Intermediate fluency: 12-18 months of consistent study. Advanced proficiency: 2-3 years for near-native fluency. Quranic reading: 6-12 months to read with proper Tajweed. Professional Arabic: 18-24 months for business/academic contexts.

These timelines assume regular practice and dedication. Our flexible plans range from 4 to 20 lessons per month, allowing you to choose the pace that fits your schedule.

Do I need prior knowledge to join your courses?

+

No prior knowledge is required! We welcome complete beginners who have never seen the Arabic alphabet before. Our curriculum starts from absolute zero and progresses systematically.

We also serve intermediate and advanced learners looking to refine their skills. During your free trial lesson, our teacher will assess your current level and create a personalized learning plan tailored to your starting point and goals.

What age groups do you teach?

+

We serve students of all ages: Children (5-12 years) with fun, interactive lessons through our Arabic for Kids program. Teens (13-17 years) with age-appropriate content balancing academic rigor with engaging materials. Adults (18+ years) for professional, conversational, or Quranic Arabic. Seniors (60+ years) with patient, comfortable-paced instruction.

Our teachers adapt their methodology to suit each age group’s learning style, attention span, and interests.

Can women and girls learn with female teachers?

+

Yes, absolutely! We have qualified female instructors who teach female students of all ages. Many of our female students, especially those learning Quran and Islamic studies, prefer female teachers for cultural or religious reasons.

When you register, simply indicate your preference for a female teacher, and we’ll match you accordingly. All our teachers are certified, experienced, and committed to providing excellent education in a respectful, comfortable learning environment.

Which Arabic should I learn: Modern Standard or dialect?

+

The choice depends on your goals. Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) is used in media, literature, formal writing and is understood across all Arab countries. Best for reading newspapers, religious texts, and academic studies.

Egyptian Colloquial Arabic is spoken in daily life in Egypt and widely understood across the Arab world. Best for travel, living in Egypt, and casual conversations.

Many students learn both. We offer both programs and can help you decide during your trial lesson.

I want to learn Arabic for religious purposes. Which course is best?

+

For religious purposes, we recommend combining: Quran Online Classes for proper recitation (Tajweed), memorization (Hifz), and understanding Quranic Arabic. Islamic Studies Course covering Hadith, Fiqh, Seerah, and Islamic history.

If you want to read Islamic texts beyond the Quran, our Modern Standard Arabic course provides the classical Arabic foundation needed for scholarly Islamic literature.

Can I switch between courses or combine multiple programs?

+

Yes, you have complete flexibility! Many students combine programs such as MSA + Quran recitation, Egyptian Arabic + Islamic Studies, or Professional Arabic + Conversation practice.

You can also switch between programs if your goals change. Simply discuss your needs with your teacher or contact our support team. There are no switching fees or penalties.

How do I know if online learning is right for me?

+

Online learning offers convenience (learn from anywhere), flexibility (schedule around your life), one-on-one attention, direct access to native Egyptian teachers, and comfort of learning in your own space.

The best way to know is to try our free trial lesson with zero commitment. You’ll experience our teaching style, platform, and approach firsthand before making any decisions.

+

Simple process: Book free trial via WhatsApp or website, meet your teacher via video call, assessment and planning session, personalized curriculum creation, regular one-on-one sessions from anywhere, interactive learning with screen sharing and digital whiteboard, practice with provided materials between lessons, and continuous support via messaging.

Each lesson is fully interactive like in-person tutoring but more convenient.

Are the class timings flexible?

+

Yes, extremely flexible! Choose your preferred days and times, schedule lessons from 6 AM to 11 PM Cairo time, select weekday or weekend sessions, change schedule if routine shifts, and take lessons from any timezone worldwide.

Teachers available across different hours to accommodate students globally.

Can I reschedule a class if I can’t attend?

+

Yes with advance notice. 6+ hours notice: reschedule freely, lesson not deducted. Less than 6 hours: may count as taken depending on teacher availability. No-show: counts as completed session.

For genuine emergencies, contact us immediately and we’ll work with you.

How long is each lesson?

+

Two duration options: 60-minute sessions (standard and most popular, optimal for adult learning), 30-minute sessions (available for younger children under 8 or scheduling constraints).

We help you choose ideal duration during trial lesson based on age and goals.

What materials will I need for online learning?

+

Required: Device (computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone), reliable internet (minimum 5 Mbps), video calling software (Zoom, Google Meet, or Skype – free).

Recommended: Headphones with microphone, notebook and pen, quiet well-lit space. All learning materials provided digitally at no cost.

How do I interact with my teacher during lessons?

+

Fully interactive with video & audio (real-time communication), screen sharing (view materials together), digital whiteboard (practice writing Arabic), text chat (share links and clarify points), and file sharing (exchange homework and materials).

Between lessons, message teacher via WhatsApp or email. Most respond within 24 hours.

If teacher unavailable, qualified substitute provided. If not satisfied, we can arrange different teacher.

What if I need to take a break during my course?

+

Taking breaks is acceptable. Short break (1-2 weeks): reschedule lessons to later dates. Extended break (1-3 months): pause subscription and resume when ready. Seasonal breaks accepted for Ramadan, Hajj, or vacations.

When you return, resume with same teacher at exact point you left off. Give one week’s notice before pausing.

How much time should I dedicate to practice between lessons?

+

Depends on goals: Minimum (casual): 15-30 minutes daily reviewing vocabulary. Recommended (serious): 45-60 minutes daily including homework and practice. Intensive (accelerated): 2+ hours daily with additional self-study.

Teacher assigns 20-45 minutes homework after each lesson. More practice between lessons means faster progress.

Can I request one-on-one sessions?

+

All our sessions are one-on-one! 100% teacher attention every lesson, perfectly tailored curriculum, freedom to ask questions anytime, progress at your own pace, and privacy to make mistakes and learn.

This individualized approach is why students achieve fluency faster than traditional classroom programs.

💻

Technical & Platform

What platform do you use for online classes?

+

We’re flexible with platforms: Zoom (most popular), Google Meet (simple, no download), Skype (widely accessible), Microsoft Teams (for corporate learners).

All platforms are free. Teacher sends meeting link before each lesson. We help you set up during trial if needed.

What if I face technical issues during a class?

+

We handle technical difficulties: Minor issues quickly troubleshooted by teacher. Internet outage on your end: reschedule at no charge if within first 15 minutes. Teacher’s outage: automatic reschedule. Platform problems: switch to alternative platform.

24/7 support available via WhatsApp. Technical setup guides provided and test calls available before first lesson.

Can I take lessons on my phone or tablet?

+

Yes! Desktop/Laptop (best experience), Tablet (very good for all ages), Smartphone (functional though small screen makes reading harder).

Many students successfully learn on tablets and phones, especially for Quran and conversation. Teachers adapt materials to your screen size.

Do you record lessons?

+

Recording available upon request. Ask teacher to record any or all lessons. Recordings sent after class for review. Only you and teacher have access. Keep recordings as long as needed.

Many students find recordings helpful for reviewing grammar, pronunciation, or catching missed points.

What internet speed do I need?

+

Recommended speeds: Minimum 5 Mbps download / 2 Mbps upload for standard quality. Recommended 10+ Mbps / 5+ Mbps for HD. Optimal 25+ Mbps for perfect quality.

If slower connection: turn off video (audio-only), close other applications, or use mobile hotspot. We’ve successfully taught students with limited internet by adapting.

How do I access learning materials?

+

Materials delivered via Email (PDFs, audio files, documents), Cloud storage (Google Drive or Dropbox folders), WhatsApp (quick sharing), and during lessons via screen sharing.

Download and keep everything forever. Print if you prefer physical copies or keep digital for easy searching.

Is there a mobile app?

+

Currently no proprietary app, but this doesn’t limit learning. We use widely available platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, Skype) with excellent mobile apps. Materials work on mobile browsers. WhatsApp is main communication tool.

Most students find this more convenient than downloading another app. All features work seamlessly on mobile.

👨‍🏫

Teachers & Teaching Methods

Are your teachers qualified?

+

Yes, all highly qualified! Every instructor is: Native Egyptian speaker, university degree holder (minimum bachelor’s in Arabic/Islamic studies/education), teaching certified (trained in teaching Arabic as foreign language), experienced (minimum 3 years with non-natives), and for Quran teachers: Ijazah in Tajweed and recitation.

We carefully vet each teacher through interviews, demo lessons, and background checks.

Do teachers speak English?

+

Yes! All teachers are fluent in English. They can explain complex grammar in English, answer questions without barriers, provide cultural context and translations, and gradually transition to more Arabic as proficiency grows.

For advanced students, teachers adjust English-Arabic ratio for immersion while maintaining clarity.

What teaching methods do you use?

+

We use proven methods: Communicative approach (real communication over memorization), task-based learning (practical activities), immersion techniques (maximum Arabic exposure), multi-sensory learning (visual, auditory, kinesthetic), repetition and review, personalized pacing, and cultural integration.

Most importantly, we adapt methods to YOU—your learning style, goals, and preferences.

Can I choose my teacher?

+

We match you based on learning goals, schedule and timezone, preferred teaching style, gender preference (female students can request female teachers), and specific subject expertise.

If not satisfied with your teacher, let us know and we’ll assign different instructor. Student-teacher compatibility is crucial for success.

How do teachers handle mistakes and corrections?

+

Positive, encouraging correction methods: Gentle correction (mistakes are learning opportunities), immediate vs. delayed correction (pronunciation immediate, flow maintained for speaking), explanations provided (understand why and how to fix), repetition practice, positive reinforcement, and error logs tracked.

Goal is building confidence while ensuring accuracy. You’ll never feel embarrassed about mistakes.

Can I contact my teacher outside lesson times?

+

Yes! WhatsApp messaging for quick questions, Email for longer questions or written work, response within 24 hours (often faster), and voice notes for pronunciation practice and audio feedback.

While teachers maintain reasonable boundaries, this ongoing support means you’re never stuck waiting. This continuous connection accelerates learning significantly.
